Even though ultimately, this story is about the miracle that happened with my son, it started when my dad graduated (passed away) and his sister couldn’t wait to tell me a lot of family secrets about him, which I am so grateful for.

I often felt that my dad was like a pressure cooker, like he was holding in a lot of anger and about to explode. He never did, but I always wondered what was going on with him. My intuition could feel there were probably secrets I didn’t know about. Sometimes his short temper made me uncomfortable.

His sister loved to talk, so I was surprised when, after my dad graduated, she obviously couldn’t wait to tell me a lot of big family secrets. One of the biggest was, my dad had been physically abused by his dad, and when his dad abandoned the family, my dad’s uncle started abusing my dad.

At the time, he was young and had to help support his two sisters and mother.

After hearing these and other family secrets, common for that generation I believe, I felt closer to my dad than I ever had.

Only then could I understand why he seemed like a pressure cooker. I felt so much compassion for him, I forgave him at that moment. I finally understood why I felt he seemed to be holding anger in. Because he was!

He was a good man. Surprisingly, he never physically abused my brother or me. So many questions were answered by the revelation of those family secrets. Secrets everyone knew, except my brother and me.
