Introducing Slalom QE!

What is QE? Quantitative easing? Quantum engineering?

So, what are we talking about when we say QE? Quantitative Easing, or Quantum Engineering? It’s none of the above actually, it is actually a lot simpler and you most definitively don’t need a degree in physics or economics to have a successful career here (though we do have members on our team with degrees in those majors). QE at Slalom means Quality Engineering.

Over the past several years, there has been a dramatic growth, demand and evolution within the Slalom Delivery Network Quality Assurance capability. From less than a dozen QA professionals concentrated in a single delivery center, we have grown to nearly 80 experts spread across 5 delivery centers (Chicago, Seattle, Toronto, Boston and Houston).

More importantly, the QA capability has become an integral component of the Slalom Product Engineering Methodology and how we deliver world-class software at Slalom. One of the main drivers fueling this evolution has been our approach to agile testing and the belief that testing is, at its core, a software engineering discipline. And voila…What used to be Quality Assurance is now Quality Engineering at Slalom.

The Cross-Market Quality Engineering (formerly Quality Assurance) group within Slalom is a small but a growing practice. We have a good breadth and depth of experience in manual testing, test automation, API Testing, load and performance testing, security testing, User acceptance testing etc.

The Quality Engineering practice is expected to make up nearly 25% of the Slalom Delivery Network within the next year. With such exponential growth expected, we need a medium (no pun intended) by which we can not only show off all the cool technologies and projects that our fine engineers work on, but also use it as a tool to market ourselves in the industry and to potential recruits.

Our Quality Engineers work on a number of projects where they use tools, processes, technologies that are state-of-the-art. We need an outlet to share those ideas. Having a blog space where we can showcase those ideas will help to market our ideas, build credibility within potential candidates and clients and also help our engineers share their proud accomplishments.

This publication is a place for our Quality engineers to share their insights, advice, challenges, and discoveries with the Quality Assurance/Engineering community. We will cover topics such as Test Automation, Mobile testing, performance testing, API testing, automation frameworks and manual testing strategies.

This post is the first of many… so keep checking back, we promise to have more mind-blowing content in the near future.
