7 things I have learned in the past 6 months

It has been quite an eventful year so far. I got married this year, started a new job and finally got my learners license — well we have to celebrate every moment don’t we. I’ve also been learning a lot throughout the year and with just a few more months left before the year ends; I thought I ‘d share what I have learned so far.

People will discourage you but God’s Word will stand

Whoa, I‘ve really come to understand what happens when seasons are changing and you are branching into new territory. The enemy isn’t going to yield territory to you so all hell will break loose and he will try to break you and try to make it very hard for you to keep going on. However, victory is certain for those who believe and the battles I’ve had to go through this year have taught me that God’s promises are real and in his perfect time everything falls into place.

Everything happens in its perfect timing

I can’t stress this enough because it’s so true. I’ve come to see that every facet of our lives is important, nothing is ever wasted and once we realize that we know that there’s purpose in every situation and like the Bible says there’s a time for everything. God is on our side and when we align with him he will do everything he can so that we can win at this life and the life to come.

It’s very easy to become resentful

There are situations that can bring out the worst in you and this is the test of character that I’ve had to go through. When things don’t happen the way we want them to, or we are a treated in ways that aren’t favorable resentment kicks in. I’ve learned that in those moments one has to trust God.

A lot can change in a day

The good, the bad and the ugly. The tables are always turning and change can be fun and in other moments quite taxing. I do know that change is not always fun or what I would like but it is necessary. If everything was easy we wouldn’t have the drive to do anything let alone seek God.

Good friends aren’t afraid to pass opportunities to others

I remember this year I passed on an opportunity to a friend that could have easily been mine but in my selflessness I would like to think it led to someone passing an opportunity to me and that’s how I was positioned to get the job I’m in right now.

You decide when to get up and go

You have to move for you because no one else is going to do it for you. Not even the people you think should. You set the course for you life. If you want more love you will sow more love, if you want me opportunities you will get out there.

You also have to decide who and what to cut off

There’s times when you have to cut certain people or habits off because keeping the connection alive will only do more harm than good. I’ve been learning this slowly with people because it can be quite and often brings me down. I’m learning to surround myself with positive people who actually care and encourage me to grow.
