How the Face of YouTube Might Look Completely Different in a Few Years

Part of what is influencing YouTube’s actions right now is damage control. After Logan Paul’s controversial video, YouTube realized that they needed to lessen their variables for content creation. They did this by reducing the amount of paid channels with their new monetization restrictions. Does this necessarily hurt new creators? Not really, since they can make the amount of money they would make in year from a small channel by holding a garage sale on one summer weekend. But this has woken YouTube from their peaceful slumber and might change their whole platform in the future.

YouTube’s new changes aren’t necessarily negative, but enjoy your favorite small YouTuber while they’re here, because they just might get sick of their lack of progress at some point. And also this means there could potentially be a land grab for a free video service to take YouTube’s place in welcoming new creators with low restrictions and less annoying ad play.
