Conversing with Constance

Please don’t grow up so fast!

Conversing with my 3 and a half year old daughter is one of the most amazing things in life for me right now. I just had to record them down and show it to her. Perhaps just before she is married. LOL. Proudly presenting ten conversations with the ever ‘change is the only constant’ Constance.

Looking at the tar on the road while on the way to school:

Constance: Papa. You like black?
Me: Yes.
Constance: Huh? You like black? (cuz she knows my fav colour is red. And I decided to play along)
Me: I like red.
Constance: Ah… You like black?
Me: Yes…
Constance: I like two pink.
Me: What is two pink?
Constance: I’ve got two pink. Tomorrow I will buy for u two red. Ok?
Me: Ok. :)

Present for her 2017 Christmas.

Constance: PAPA!! YOU SEE!! (pointing at the cheeks of penguin)
Me: Why??
Constance: You see… RED COLOUR!!
Me: (again decided to play along) Ah… why is it red..?
Constance: Dog… And ladybird… They beat him…
Me: Ah.. can u tell them not to beat him?
Constance: They (are) naughty.
Me: Okay, please tell them be good okay?
Constance: I don’t like them. NAUGHTY!

(Turn around and stormed away)

She has many favourite fruits. Watermelon’s one of them.

Constance: Papa. Come here.
Me: Can you ask again, politely?
Constance: Papa… Can you please commme?
Me: Okay. Yes?
Constance: (pointing at the watermelon seeds) What is this?
Me: Seeds.
Constance: (shaking her head) No.
Me: Watermelon seeds.
Constance: (shaking her head)No.
Me: Black.
Constance: Noo…. (straight face this time)
Me: What is it?
Constance: (looking at me with confusion) Dot. No! Rain!
Me: Dot or rain?
Constance: Dot. Okay go do your work.

Free gift from purchasing her milk powder. Thank God for freebies.

Constance: (holding the tiger to her ears) I call him.
Me: Who?
Constance: (without hesitation) My Son.
Me: (hilarious) Your Son?!
Constance: Yes.
Me: Haha.. What’s his name?
Constance: Chen Rui. (that’s part of her brother’s name)
Me: Haha wow okay..
Constance: Hello?
Me: (Waiting anxiously on what she would say next)
Constance: (Still silent)
Me: (I couldn’t let this end just like that) What does he like?
Constance: I don’t know. Seaweed. Say hello to him.
Me: Hello! How old are u?
Constance: (Looked at me with certainty) 2 weeks.
Me: 2 weeks only?? Haha, nice.
Constance: Okay, don’t talk already. Bye.
(hangs up the call by throwing the tiger away)

2 of the many pens she got from nurses in clinics. Thank God for freebies again.

Constance: Papa. Choose one.
Me: (knowing full well she likes pink) The pink one.
Constance: No.. you choose one.
Me: Yeah, I’ll take the pink one.
Constance: No.. pink is my favourite!
Me: Then what can I choose?
Constance: (silent)
Me: Okay, the yellow one. Okay no, I’ll take the pink.
Constance: Pink is my favourite!
Me: Haha okay.. yellow one.
Constance: Good. (handed the pen to me) You draw. I will give you one sticker.
Me: Thank you.
Constance: Welcome.

Told her the train master had mandated water intake before hopping on. Perfect.

Constance: Papa! You see! Train!
Me: Yup. isn’t it nice?
Constance: Like the long long biscuit.
Me: Haha.. you are creative.
Constance: Huh?
Me: I like how your correlation.
Constance: Huh?
Me: I love you.
Constance: I love you.
How could I forget about this? This was what inspired me to jot down our conversations.

Took a stroll around our estate. Yup, we live near hills, lol.

Me: What is that?
Constance: Jungle.
Me: How many trees are there?
Constance: Five. (which means many to her)
Me: So many trees?
Constance: Yes. One, two, three, four, five, six.
Me: Six?
Wife: Who lives in the jungle?
Constance: Only lion. Lion goes (to) zoo. Giraffe goes (to) zoo. Lion can go to zoo. Two only! (using her fingers to count)Tiger, lion, two only.
Me: Two only. Sweet. :)

And I nearly wanted to take the actual poo poo she made.

Constance: Papa, I’m going to poo poo.
Me: Okay, go.
Constance: (Face turned red as she purged)
Constance: (daydreaming for 15–18 seconds…)
Constance: Papa. I’m done.
Me: Okay, let’s wash up.
Constance: I love u.
Me: I love u too. (All smiles)
Constance: (Smiled back)

Constance: AHHHH!!! VERY HOT!!!
Me: (ran to her from afar) WHAT??! WHAT IS HOT??!Constance: THIS!! VERY HOT!!! BURNT MY HAND!!! (pointing to the toy stove)Me: … … Okay… be careful…Constance: Ok.

(continued cooking)

She said the round thing is a donut.

Constance: Papa! Brother take the food! But it’s not cooked!(she expected me to scold her brother, hence the complaint.)

Me: Okay. Then can you make sure the food is cooked? You tell your brother that he can only take the food when it’s cooked. You ensure you cook the food properly k? Can you do that for papa?

Constance: (she froze for 3 seconds before nodding her head)

Me: Ok good.

She moved on, literally.
:)

Yeahs!
